Project Challenges
A news audience gives a homepage seconds, not minutes: readers want the biggest story of the moment, the latest updates, and a clear route into the topics they follow — in fluent Arabic and on whatever screen they have in hand. The challenge was to organize a high-volume, constantly updating newsroom into a calm, readable right-to-left experience: a broad taxonomy of sections and sub-sections (News, Today’s News, Latest Hour, Breaking News, Politics, Economy, World, Middle East, Reports, Sports, Art, Health, Technology, Literature News, and more); a homepage that balances a lead story, featured articles, breaking news, and the most popular stories without feeling cluttered; an archive that already runs to hundreds of pages; article pages built for reading and sharing; and the trust signals expected of a news publisher — clear About Us, Contact Us, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use pages — all while keeping pages light enough to load quickly on mobile connections.
Project Deliverables
UX/UI Design
We designed a clean editorial interface in Elraielaam’s identity — the navy-and-gold globe-and-quill logo with its “Politics . Economy . News” strapline, generous white reading space, and crisp red accents for section headings and category labels. The homepage opens with a full-width lead-story slider that overlays the headline, category tag, author, date, and excerpt on the story image, followed by a strip of the three latest headlines. It continues with a Featured Articles mosaic that mixes stories from Sports, Economy, Art, Health, and News; Literature News and Breaking News blocks; a Most Popular sidebar; and a Latest Articles feed with thumbnails, excerpts, and numbered pagination. Section pages pair a bold section title with quick sub-section filters (Latest Hour, News, Literature News, Today’s News) above a four-card story grid, while article pages put the headline, category badges, and one-tap sharing to Facebook, X, Pinterest, and WhatsApp up front, with a Related stories rail alongside. The entire experience is designed natively right to left with clear Arabic typography, and a compact mobile header keeps the menu and search one tap away.
Website Development
We built a responsive, Arabic-first WordPress news website on a modular newsroom theme, with a full right-to-left layout and a publishing workflow that lets the editorial team post and categorize stories throughout the day. The site includes the Home page, section and sub-section archives for every news category, single-article templates with author and date details, related stories, and social sharing, plus About Us, Contact Us (email, Egypt address, and Sunday–Thursday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM working hours), Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and an XML sitemap linked from the footer. The build includes lazy-loaded imagery, paginated archives, built-in search, SEO metadata with Open Graph and Twitter cards for clean link previews, and security hardening, and every template is tuned for speed across desktop and mobile so readers can reach the latest news anytime, from anywhere.
